It is with great joy that we announce that today, Sunday 30 January 2022, the professed brothers and sisters of the monastero di Bose, who gathered for the annual general council, in the presence of the external guarantor Bishop Erik Varden OCSO, bishop of Trondheim and former Trappist abbot of Mount Saint Bernard, and of the pontifical delegate Rev Amedeo Cencini, have elected br Sabino Chialà as their new prior — and on the first ballot!

We, the brothers of Emmaus, wish to express our warmest best wishes to br Sabino and the community, and offer our heartfelt prayers in thanksgiving for this great gift.
And we also give thanks to God for the leadership and service given by br Luciano Manicardi, who has cared for the Bose community over the last few, often difficult and even painful, years in the life of this community whose support has been of such inestimable value and comfort to us in Tasmania.
We may be distant geographically but "in spirit and in truth" we are one in Christ and in our monastic discipleship. As Psalm 132 (133) says so beautifully:
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
Bose is an ecumenical monastic community dedicated to promoting that unity for which Christ prayed when He asked the Father that "they may all be one" (John 17:21), and which God alone can bestow upon the church. May Bose long continue in its mission of promoting not just Christian unity but that universal communion into which all creation is called and for which we are created: the communion of love, which is nothing less than God.
